Hello!

Hello!

Welcome to my world of early childhood education. I'm currently a Junior Kindergarten teacher (4-5 year olds), but have recently taught kindergarten, and preschoo 3's. My classroom integrates play based centers with hands on learning.

They were amazing writers, and I'm excited to see where this year's group goes. Team Digital or Team Paper? I typically do paper. Team Digital or Team Paper? I typically do paper. 📝 It’s easy to change each week, if I need to adjust. But let’s be honest I don’t want to write it all out every year… so after getting a strong pacing guide typed last year, this year I’m typing my centers out so I have them ready to go next year with only minor adjustments. I think I’m going to leave my actual planning on paper, but we’ll see. #preschoolteacher #juniorkindergartenteacher #earlychildhoodteacher #preschoollessonplans
✨ 3 Things I SWEAR By When Setting Up a Classroom ✨ 3 Things I SWEAR By When Setting Up a Classroom ✨

Classroom setup isn’t just about making a space look beautiful, it’s about creating an environment that actually works for the children who use it every day.

Here are 3 things I always come back to:

1️⃣ Let the environment be the third teacher. The classroom should invite curiosity, independence, collaboration, and learning without us having to direct every moment. Think carefully about what your space is communicating to your students: What is it inviting them to do, explore, create, and wonder about?

2️⃣ Don’t be afraid to change it!You can spend HOURS creating the “perfect” classroom setup…and then realize it just doesn’t work for your students. 😅 Move the tables. Change the centers. The setup should serve the students, not the other way around.

3️⃣ I create LOTS of small spaces to work and play. Not everything needs to happen at a big table or in one large open area. Create little areas throughout the room where children can build, read, create, talk, investigate, work independently, or play with a friend.

The best classroom setup isn’t always the prettiest one.

It’s the one that responds to the children in it. 💛

What’s one thing YOU swear by when setting up your classroom?

Outside learning is IMPORTANT...Let's say it again Outside learning is IMPORTANT...Let's say it again for the people in the back. Outdoor play is essential for ALL children. This year, we added rain suits to our supplies list. We have requested rain boots for a number of years, but this year we are leveling up with rain suits and I'm excited. #outdoorlearning #preschoolactivities #learningthroughplay #juniorkindergartenoutdoor #outdoorplay

Loose parts is one of my FAVORITE centers because of this toy right here. It can be anything your students imagine. Due to its size I recommend it for 4 years and up, but you know your students. I promise you… you will want more than one set. #juniorkindergarten #preschoolactivities #learningthroughplay #loosepartsplay #teachinglittlepeopleismysuperpower
I Love, LOVE, LOVE, a messy art table. Nothing mak I Love, LOVE, LOVE, a messy art table. Nothing makes me happier than when the kids are cutting and creating on their own. Throughout the year, it's amazing to see how they grow and add to their creations. This was a spring setup for my Junior Kindergarteners. It included these jumbo wooden numbers that can be placed together to equal each other. I'm considering splitting the area into two next year, but unsure where to put the second table and concerned if I have time to change two. Also have a shelf option, but not sure kids will utilize it the same way. #preschoolactivities #preschoolmath #handsonmath #prekmath #exploringmath
